šÆ Theme:
God does not look at appearance, but at the heart ā¤ļø
āø»
š Bible Story:
David Is Chosen as King
āø»
š Key Verse:
āFor the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.ā
š 1 Samuel 16:7
āø»
⨠Introduction for Children:
Sometimes we think that the biggest šŖ, strongest šļø, or best-looking š people are the best, but did you know that God does not think that way? God looks at something very special that no one can see with their eyes š: the heart ā¤ļø.
Today we will learn this through the story of David š, a young shepherd who became king š.
āø»
š The Story of David:
There was a prophet named Samuel š“š. God told him to go to the house of Jesse š because one of his sons would be the new king š.
Jesse brought his sons one by one:
⢠They were tall š
⢠They were strong šŖ
⢠They looked important ā
Samuel thought š:
āSurely this is the one God wants,ā
but God told him something very important ā¤ļø:
āDo not look at his appearance or his height⦠I look at the heart.ā
š 1 Samuel 16:7
After seeing all the sons, Samuel asked ā:
āDo you have any other sons?
Jesse answered šØāš¦:
āYes, the youngest one⦠David, but he is taking care of the sheep š.
When David arrived š¶āāļø, God said āØ:
āThis is the one,ā
and David was chosen by God to be king š.
āø»
š§ What Do We Learn From This Story?
1ļøā£ God does not focus on how big or strong you are
David was small š¤ and did not seem important, but God chose him ā¤ļø.
š 1 Samuel 16:11ā12
Maybe you are not the tallest in your class š or the fastest šāāļø, but God loves you and sees you šā¤ļø.
āø»
2ļøā£ God looks at what your heart is like ā¤ļø
God saw that David had an obedient heart š and that he loved God ā¤ļø.
š Acts 13:22
š§ø Example:
When you share your toys š§ø, tell the truth ā , or help at home š§¹, God sees your heart ā¤ļø.
āø»
3ļøā£ We should not judge others by how they look š«š
Sometimes we think someone is not good because they are different š, but God teaches us to love ā¤ļø.
š James 2:1
š Example:
A quiet 𤫠or shy š child may have a very beautiful heart for God ā¤ļø.
āø»
4ļøā£ God can use any child who loves Him š
David started as a shepherd š, but God had a big plan for him šāØ.
š Psalm 78:70ā72
š Example:
Even if you are small š¤, God can use you to do good things:
pray š, help š¤, and obey š.
āø»
šÆ Application for Children:
God does not expect you to be perfect š.
God wants you to have an obedient š, kind š heart that loves Jesus ā¤ļøāļø.
Every day you can say to God š£ļø:
āLord, take care of my heart.ā ā¤ļø
š Proverbs 4:23
āAbove all else, guard your heart.ā
āø»
š Short Prayer for Children:
āDear God, thank You because You do not look at how I look, but at my heart ā¤ļø. Help me have a good š, obedient š, and loving ā¤ļø heart. In the name of Yeshua, amen.ā
