In a small town, there were two friends named Daniel and Mateo. They loved playing together after school, building forts, and sharing snacks.
One day, Mateo really wanted Daniel’s new toy. Instead of asking kindly, he thought of a different plan.
“Maybe if I tell him something that’s not true,” Mateo thought, “he’ll give it to me.”
So Mateo said,
“Daniel… I heard your toy is actually broken. You should give it to me before it gets worse.”
Daniel looked confused. He trusted Mateo, but something didn’t feel right in his heart.
That night, Daniel remembered a Bible verse his parents taught him:
📖 “The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in people who are trustworthy.” — Proverbs 12:22
Daniel decided to ask his parents instead. They checked the toy—and it was perfectly fine!
The next day, Daniel gently asked Mateo,
“Why did you tell me my toy was broken?”
Mateo felt his heart sink. He knew he had tried to trick his friend.
He remembered another verse from church:
📖 “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor.” — Ephesians 4:25
Mateo realized something important: trying to control or trick someone is called manipulation, and it hurts people.
With tears in his eyes, Mateo said,
“I’m sorry, Daniel. I tried to trick you because I wanted your toy. That wasn’t right.”
Daniel smiled kindly and said,
“I forgive you. Next time, just ask me.”
Then they both remembered another truth:
📖 “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” — Luke 6:31
From that day on, Mateo chose honesty over tricks—and their friendship became even stronger.
💡 Lesson for Kids
Manipulation = trying to trick or control someone for your own gain
God wants us to be honest, kind, and truthful
Trust grows when we speak the truth
Saying “sorry” and changing is the right choice 💛
