Self-control means stopping, thinking, and choosing what is right—even when our feelings are strong. Everyone feels angry, excited, or impatient sometimes, but God teaches us how to control our words, actions, and attitudes. When we follow Yeshua, He helps us grow stronger inside and make choices that please God.
📖 Bible Verses About Self-Control
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
— 2 Timothy 1:7
This verse reminds us that God gives us strength to control ourselves—not to be scared or out of control.
“A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.”
— Proverbs 25:28
Self-control protects our hearts, just like walls protect a city.
“Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.”
— James 1:19
God teaches us to pause and think before we speak or act.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
— Galatians 5:22–23
Self-control is one of the fruits the Holy Spirit grows in us when we walk with God.

🧠 How Kids Can Use Self-Control Every Day
Here are simple ways kids can practice self-control in real life:
🏠 At Home
• Take a deep breath before reacting when you feel upset.
• Obey your parents even when you don’t feel like it.
• Use kind words instead of yelling or arguing.
🏫 At School
• Raise your hand instead of shouting out.
• Walk away from trouble instead of joining it.
• Stay focused on your work instead of getting distracted.
🧒 With Friends
• Share toys and take turns.
• Forgive others instead of holding a grudge.
• Choose kindness even when someone is mean.
❤️ In Your Heart
• Pray before reacting.
• Ask Yeshua for help when feelings feel too big.
• Remember that God sees your choices, even when no one else does.
Every small good choice helps us grow stronger and more like Yeshua.
