What Is Prayer and Why Should I Do It?

At Kids Kingdom Yeshua, we want to help children get to know God in a simple, loving, and close way. Today we will learn something very important: prayer.

✨ 1. What Is Prayer?

Prayer is talking to God.

Just as we talk to mom, dad, or a friend, we can also talk to God at any time.

God is always ready to listen to us.

🙏 We can pray:

• To give thanks

• To ask for help

• To tell Him how we feel

• To ask for forgiveness

📖 Bible Verse:

“Call to Me, and I will answer you” — Jeremiah 33:3

God tells us that if we talk to Him, He listens and answers, because He loves us.

❤️ 2. Why Should We Pray?

a) Because God listens to us

Even though we cannot see Him, God always pays attention when we pray.

“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry”

— Psalm 34:15

Example:

Just like when you raise your hand in class and the teacher listens to you, God listens to our prayers.

b) Because Jesus taught us to pray

Jesus prayed often and taught us how to pray.

“Therefore, pray in this way…” — Matthew 6:9

Explanation:

If Jesus, the Son of God, prayed, then we should pray too.

c) Because prayer helps us when we are afraid or have problems

When we are sad, sick, or scared, God gives us peace.

“Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you”

— 1 Peter 5:7

Example:

If you feel afraid at night, you can pray and ask God to take care of you.

⏰ 3. When Can We Pray?

✨ Always!

• In the morning

• Before going to sleep

• Before eating

• At school

• Anywhere

“Pray without ceasing” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Explanation:

God is always with us, so we can always talk to Him.

💡 An Easy Way to Remember How to Pray:

💚 T.H.A.N.K.

• Thank God

• Honor (Praise) God

• Ask for help

• Need forgiveness (Ask for forgiveness)

🌈 5. How Do We Apply Prayer in Our Daily Life?

• Pray when you wake up:

  “Forgive me, God, help me do better”

• Pray before going to sleep:

  
  

  “Thank You for taking care of me today”

🧒 Example of How to Pray

“Dear God,

thank You for my family and friends.

Thank You for taking care of me today.

Help me obey and do what is right.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.”

✨ At Kids Kingdom Yeshua, we learn that prayer is not difficult.

It is simply talking to God with a sincere heart, knowing that He loves us, listens to us, and takes care of us always.
